The finance space can be a little scam-my.  There is a lot of information out there that can help you grow your knowledge on investing and personal finance.  Some of it is helpful, while some can be untruthful and dangerous to your journey.  I wanted to share some resources with my community who may be looking for trustworthy content. I have personally been following these personalities/organizations for years.  I have learned so much from each entity and it is my hope that you will too.

No Affiliation

I am not affiliated nor paid by any of these businesses.  Majority of their content is free and open to the public.  Some, offer optional classes, programs and conferences that you can pay to join.  Others have books and newsletters for purchase.  These are at your discretion for purchase.

Journey to Launch

I started listening to Journey to Launch shortly after it began in 2016.  The podcast is hosted by Jamila Souffrant, a New York based personality that teaches about getting out of debt and financial freedom.  She hosts guests who share their financial independence testimonies with listeners, whom she calls “journeyers”.  She also focuses on F.I.R.E., an acronym for Financial Independence Retire Early.  Jamila herself, has saved up enough money to leave her corporate job.  You can catch new episodes of her podcast every Wednesday on your favorite podcast platform.

Biggerpockets

Biggerpockets primarily focuses on real estate investing.  Their information helped me purchase my first rental property.  The Biggerpockets Money Podcast, hosted by Mindy Jensen and Scott Trench focus strictly on personal finance.  They interview guests on how they are achieving financial success.  In addition to interviews, they also do financial breakdowns of guest’s portfolios.  They offer strategies and advice to help in areas of need.  Biggerpockets has a catalog of books for sale as well as an in-person conference.  Their forum is an excellent source of information.  I recommend Biggerpockets for individuals who have no debt and are looking to build wealth with real estate and/or want to retire early.

HerMoney

HerMoney is a podcast hosted by Jean Chatzky. Her podcast focuses on how money often looks different for women.  Women tend to live longer than men and often have different needs when it comes to their finances. She often addresses how motherhood and being a caretaker can negatively affect a woman’s career.  She and her guests give solid advice on how to advocate for yourself in these tough situations.  I recommend HerMoney for career moms and those who wish to learn more about investing for their futures.

Bogleheads

Bogleheads are a group of people who are die hard Jack Bogle fans.  Jack Bogle’s investing philosophy is to invest simply and often. Their website looks outdated but don’t turn away just yet.  They take simplicity seriously.  The forum is very active and one of the best resources for investing advice on the internet.  I like the idea of the three-fund portfolio.  This consist of three ETFs.  One total US stock market fund, one international stock market fund and one total bond market fund. That’s it.  Bogleheads advocate for investing in minimum ETFs over long periods of time.  Their motto is to “stay the course”. No matter market conditions they encourage each other to keep investing.  I recommend Bogleheads for the “lazy” investor.  If you don’t have the time nor desire to research stocks this is your tribe.  The time tested investing method has proven right over time.

The Come Up Series

But what if you love diving into the stock market and personal finance? The Come Up Series is an advanced resource for you. Mark Monroe and Jolyn GC started this group during the pandemic era.  The goal is to close the generational and gender wealth gap within one generation.  I like this group because the information provided is free.  They don’t offer courses or classes. It is not gimmicky like many other groups I see on Youtube.  Mark Monroe is an entrepreneur turned VC who wants to share his knowledge.  He believes the information shared behind closed doors should be accessible to all.  I recommend The Come Up Series to those who are already investing and looking to get different perspectives on market conditions.  You should come with market and investing knowledge. This is not a beginner community.

Faith Driven Investor

Faith Driven Investor is an organization that aims to help people make a meaningful impact with their investing dollars.  This is a Christian organization that serves its people by providing books, podcasts and community.  I like this group because it helps me find ways to bring my faith to investing without doing harm to others.  Faith Driven Investor offers small groups and conferences to discuss matching dollars with values. I recommend this community for those who are looking to invest in organizations that align with their faith and their beliefs.

Millionaires Unveiled Podcast

Millionaires Unveiled Podcast hosts Clark Sheffield and Jace Mattinson interviews everyday millionaires. These people range from serial entrepreneurs, mechanics to custodians.  I like this podcast because it showcases creative ways that regular people can grow their wealth.  Guests are unique, and their paths vary.  Like the Biggerpockets podcast, each person breaks down their net worth by category (real estate, 401K, etc.) and discuss how they achieved their wealth.  I recommend this podcast for people who are working and looking for unique ways to make more money.
